What: Support and skills group using discussion and learning to cope with chronic illness and pain.

 

Target population and skills: This group is for participants who wish to:

* Connect with and receive support from other people with chronic pain/medical illnesses

* Explore ways to improve their quality of life

* Expand their coping style and skills

* Better understand the effects of chronic medical illness on their emotions and relationships

This group is open to the general public in addition to being offered to CCS consumers.

When: Weekly at 11am-12pm on Wednesdays, start date Oct 1st

Where: Virtual via Google Meet platform

 

Description: 

Chronic medical illness and chronic pain can be isolating. This group aims to connect people and better help them to manage and cope with chronic medical illnesses and chronic pain. This 9-week group teaches skills such as mindfulness, offers discussions around topics such as coping styles, quality of life, and healthcare, and provides education on coping with the medical, psychological, and social aspects of living with a chronic illness and chronic pain.

Each week we will discuss a new topic, share and receive support, practice a skill, and give practice assignments to discuss as a group the following session. 

Commitment: Members must commit to attending 9 weekly group sessions and complete weekly practice assignments.

 

Minimum registered 4. Maximum 7.

Registration deadline: Rolling registration.

Service Facilitators: 3 hours ISDE must be approved in module by Friday before the first session.

Non-CCS participants: Self-pay rate of $25/session
