What: Book Club using “Becoming Aware: A 21 Day Mindfulness Program for Reducing Anxiety and Cultivating Calm” by Daniel Siegel, MD

 

Target population and skills: CCS clients with desire to build mindfulness skills and engage in a mindfulness practice to manage anxiety, regulate mood, and create a sense of calm in mind and body.

 

When: Tuesdays, August 27 – Oct. 15 @ 1:00PM-2:00PM

 

Where: Virtual via Google Meet (link to be sent after registration)

 

Description: Each member will be responsible for purchasing their own copy of the book by Tuesday, September 3.

We will use the book “Becoming Aware” as a guide to engage in a mindfulness practice to build awareness of the breath, mind, and body.

We will meet each week to describe our observations of our experience in non-judgmental ways and provide support in establishing an individualized mindfulness practice.

 

Supportive DBT and Somatic Experiencing skills may be taught and integrated throughout the sessions for distress tolerance and emotional regulation as members participate in daily/weekly exercises.

 

Minimum registered 7. Maximum 10.

Registration deadline: Aug 23, 2024

Service Facilitators: 1.5 hours ISDE must be approved in module by Monday, August 26th for clients to join.
